12 things you can do digitally with your nib membership

Looking after your health cover should be simple and convenient. That's why we've created a range of digital tools to help you make claims, check your cover and find the information you need, all without leaving home.

1. Make a claim

If you need to make a claim after an appointment, it's as simple as taking a photo of your official provider receipt and uploading it to the nib App. Your official receipt should include:

2. Check your cover and remaining limits

We’ve taken the guesswork out of your claiming by giving you up-to-date information on your remaining Extras limits. Simply open the nib App or log in to your member account and you’ll be able to see what your annual limits are, as well as how much of your annual limits are still available. 3. Add your nib card to your digital wallet

Say goodbye to the hassle of forgetting your nib card! By adding it to your digital wallet, you’ll always have it on hand for quick, easy claiming. Plus, any updates to your personal details, like a name change, are automatically reflected, making life that little bit more convenient.

4. Check your claims anytime

Want to know if your claim has been processed? You can track the status of your claims through the nib App or your member account.

You'll also be able to view your claims history for both Hospital and Extras services, including an itemised breakdown of what nib has paid and any remaining out-of-pocket costs. It's a simple way to keep track of your claims and understand how you're using your cover. Learn more about checking your claims history.

5. Your nib Rewards

If you haven’t already taken advantage of nib Rewards, what are you waiting for? nib Rewards are available to members and you could be saving big bucks on eGift cards for everything from restaurants to groceries and gym memberships.1 This members-only program includes more than 100 retailers and you can access it through both your member account and the nib App.

6. Update your cover

As life changes, it's worth checking that your health cover still suits your needs. The good news is you can easily review and update your cover through the nib App or your member account.

7. Telehealth and special pricing

Did you know nib members can access exclusive pricing on telehealth appointments?

That means less time sitting in waiting rooms and more time getting on with your day. Whether you're curled up on the couch with a cold or squeezing an appointment into a busy schedule, you can book a telehealth appointment online or through the nib App.

8. Skin check

Did you know that Australia has the highest prevalence of melanoma in the world? We want to encourage all Aussies to know their risk of skin cancer, which is why we offer our members access to our free online skin check tool. Available through the nib App and member account, this tool will give you personalised insights and recommendations to help you look after your skin health.

9. Past nib communications

Have you ever frantically searched for an email you swore you saw in your inbox a few months ago? Or a text that you accidentally deleted that contained some pretty important information? We know how easy it is for important emails and messages to get lost, which is why we keep a complete inbox of all nib information and communications for you on the nib App. All you need to do is head to the 'Account' section and select ‘Inbox’.

10. Find a healthcare provider

Whether you're looking for a dentist, physio, specialist or hospital, our Find a Provider tool can help you find the right care for your needs.

Use the tool to search for dentists, physiotherapists, optical providers, hearing providers and mental health professionals in the nib First Choice network. First Choice providers offer agreed rates2 on selected services and treatments, helping eligible members reduce out-of-pocket costs and make their annual Extras limits go further. Eligible members may also be able to access No Gap offers on selected treatments and services through participating First Choice providers, depending on your level of cover.

If you're planning a hospital procedure, you can also search for specialists who participate in nib's MediGap program or find a nib Agreement Hospital to help keep your out-of-pocket costs down.

11. The Going to Hospital tool

If you need to go to hospital for a procedure, your first port of call needs to be the Going to Hospital tool. Not only can you use this to check that your procedure is covered, but you can search for a specialist, choose an nib Agreement Hospital to minimise your out-of-pockets and get guidance on how to prepare for your upcoming hospital stay.

12. Visit 'My Health' in the nib App

Whether you're looking for support with a specific health condition, need to reorder treatments recommended by a clinician, or want an online medical certificate following a consult with a medical doctor or nurse practitioner through our partner, hub.health, you can do it all in one place. Simply open the nib App and tap 'My Health' to get started, no waiting room required.
