What is the nib First Choice network?
We’re always looking for ways to help our members save on everyday health services. That’s why we’ve partnered with a large network of Extras providers who provide their services at agreed rates to help lower out of pocket costs for eligible nib members.
As an nib member it’s your choice which Extras provider you visit, but choosing a First Choice network provider means you could end up paying less for the same treatment than you would with a provider outside the network.
Why should I visit an nib First Choice network provider?
Most nib members who visit a First Choice network provider have lower out of pocket costs. For example, the average visit for common dental treatments are 15% cheaper than non-network providers1. By visiting a provider in our First Choice network, you’re taking full advantage of your Extras cover and are helping your limits last even longer.

What does No Gap mean?
A gap payment, also known as an out of pocket expense, is the difference between what you’re charged by a provider and how much we give you back through your Extras cover.
As part of our partnership with our First Choice network, some providers offer certain No Gap consults, procedures and offers to our members. This means that you won't have to pay any out of pocket expenses for certain Extras visits, such as dental check-ups, initial physio consultations and some prescription glasses.

2 No Gap services include preventative dental treatments available at nib Dental Care centres and other selected First Choice network providers, no gap physiotherapy initial consultations and a range of no gap optical packages and discounts from various optical partners. Terms and conditions apply. Changes can occur so check Find a Provider or the nib App before booking to ensure your provider participates or ask your provider at the time of booking.
3 Dental benefits are subject to Fund Rules, waiting periods and annual/service limits. A dental check-up includes an examination/consultation (011-015), diagnostics (022, 037), scale and clean (114, 115), plaque removal (111), and fluoride treatment (121) as deemed necessary by the dentist (excludes dentures).
