8 things you can do to reduce your risk of developing cancer
Things we can all do to reduce our chances of getting cancer
One of the big questions we had when we partnered with the Mark Hughes Foundation is – what are we doing to find a cure?
With the disease killing more children and young people under 40 than any other cancer, there’s a lot riding on the team to find a cure for brain cancer. So, we spoke with medical and radiation oncologist, Dr Mike Fay, whose position is fully funded by the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Dr Fay is working to understand why tumours become resistant to treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
“For the first time, we’re making progress on a whole lot of fronts. We’ve got all of the tools available that we only dreamed about 10 or 20 years ago.”
With the money raised by the Mark Hughes Foundation, Dr Fay and his team will continue running studies throughout 2018.
“There’s so much generosity to support (brain cancer) research, so this really under-researched area is finally getting a really good go”
