Agents: The nib difference
We make health cover easy for international students

nib is different from other Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) providers. We make accessing healthcare and making claims easy, and we’re dedicated to our members’ wellbeing. Backed by an award-winning customer service team, we ensure that getting covered, claiming benefits and transitioning to other cover types is easy for international students.
Here are some ways we make health insurance easy for international students.
OSHC confirmation in minutes
International students applying for a subclass 500 visa can expect to have their Visa Certificate emailed to them in as soon as five minutes. No more waiting around for important documentation to meet student visa requirements.
For those seeking Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) to meet the visa conditions of subclasses 401, 407, 408, 416, 417, 420, 457, 461, 462, 482 and 485, nib has a range of great value health covers, taking only minutes to reach your applicant’s inbox.
The nib App
Designed to take the hassle out of staying on top of health cover, the nib App is intuitive to use and makes it easy for international students to understand their health cover. Students can manage their policy, use their digital membership card, access nib services and programs, and connect with our customer service team easily.
Telehealth services
It’s not always practical or possible to access a doctor’s office, so we offer book your telehealth appointment online with qualified and experienced General Practitioners (GPs) that nib members can access from the comfort and privacy of their homes.
nib Rewards
We know that sticking to a budget is important for many international students, so we’ve decided to reward our loyal customers with the nib Rewards program. nib members can access great savings on everyday necessities like groceries, but also opportunities to explore Australia and attend amazing events.

Easy transitions between covers
nib makes transitioning from OSHC to OVHC seamless, meaning international students who want to remain in Australia - on visas such as the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa - don’t need to worry about changing health cover providers.
Moving between different health covers with nib is easy. Students can reach out to our team and have them handle the switch. Plus, if students switch from another provider, we’ll recognise any waiting periods they’ve already served on equivalent cover.
International students are in Australia to learn and have fun, not spend their time negotiating complicated health cover policies. We make it quick and easy for students to sign up and get covered, so they can concentrate on getting settled and enjoying their new life in Australia.
