Reviewing & changing your health cover

Tailor your health insurance to suit your lifestyle by updating and reviewing your health cover through your member account or the nib App.

How do I check what I'm covered for?

The nib App makes it easy to check what you're covered for and allows you to quickly view the limits remaining on your Extras. Watch or listen to the video below to learn how.

Alternatively, you can review your health cover by logging into your member account online.

  1. Log in to your member account, opens in a new tab

  2. From the homepage, select ‘Your policy’, then open Product Fact Sheet to see what you’re covered for

  3. To see how much of your Extras limits remain, Select ‘My usage’ from the main menu at the top of the page.

Reviewing and changing your cover

It’s important that your health insurance changes as your needs and lifestyle do, so reviewing your health insurance cover, opens in a new tab at every life stage is essential. However, keep in mind that the ideal policy isn't solely determined by price – the most affordable option may not be the best fit for your unique circumstances. At nib, our goal is to help you find health cover that fits your lifestyle and health and wellbeing needs.

How do I review or change my cover?

You can review your level of health cover, change your cover and change your excess all by logging in to your member account or via the nib App.

Review or change your cover online 

  1. Log in to your member account, opens in a new tab 

  2. Select ‘change cover’ 

  3. Follow the prompts to select your excess, Extras and Hospital cover 

  4. Once you’re happy with the cover you’ve selected, select ‘Update policy’ 

  5. You will see a 'Successmessage when you have successfully updated your cover. 

Review or change your cover in the nib App 

  1. Simply open your App and go to the ‘Account’ section

  2. Tap on 'Change cover', this will automatically open a web browser where you can follow the prompts to select your excess, Extras and Hospital cover 

  3. Once you’re happy with the cover you’ve selected, tap ‘Update policy’ 

  4. You will see a 'Success’ message when you have successfully updated your cover.

Things to remember before you change your health cover

  • You may have to serve waiting periods, opens in a new tab for any new services or increased annual limits as part of your new health cover.

  • You have the freedom to change your mind with our 30-day cooling off period. Call us on 13 16 42, opens in a new tab within 30 days and we will get you back on your previous cover (provided you haven’t made a claim since you made the change).

  • Any benefits previously paid under your old cover will be considered if you have annual limits, opens in a new tab on your level of cover.

  • Upgrading your cover may result in higher premium.
