We have a number of Hospital and Extras cover options that you can buy separately or packaged together, so that you can compare and choose a health cover that suits your needs and your budget. Once you've found a health cover, you can join nib online, over the phone, or at an nib Retail Centre.
30 day cooling off period
We want you to be confident in your cover choice so don't forget that you're entitled to a 30-day cooling off period.
If you’ve just joined nib and, for whatever reason, decide that you don’t want to continue with your health cover, we’ll refund your full premium if you contact us to cancel within 30 days (and haven’t made any claims in that time).
If you’ve recently increased or decreased your level of health cover and change your mind, the cooling off period still applies. This means we can adjust your premiums back to your original cover straight away, provided you haven't made a claim. Simply contact us before your 30 day period is up.
What if I’m switching from another fund?
All you need to do is join online and we’ll do the rest. We’ll contact your previous fund on your behalf, as well as take care of the paperwork.
Once you become a member of nib, we’ll request a Transfer Certificate from your previous insurer. Under the Private Health Insurance Act, when you switch to nib your previous fund is required to send us a Transfer Certificate within 14 days.
If you're an overseas member, you'll need to provide us with details of your previous fund, and request a transfer certificate from them.
