It’s important to know what is and isn’t covered

COVID-19 has changed travel for everyone and even though you might be ready for your next exciting travel adventure, you may want to consider packing travel insurance before you go.

While we hope your travels run smoothly, COVID-19 can throw a spanner in the works, so you may want to consider having help by your side if things don’t go as planned. Some travel insurance plans provide cover for COVID-19 related events, however the benefits vary so it’s important to know what is and isn’t covered.

Here are some things you may want cover for when planning your next trip:

Overseas medical bills that may occur if you suddenly get COVID-19 on your trip and need medical attention.
Medical evacuation to the nearest medical facility if your symptoms get really bad.
Non-refundable costs for cancelled flights, accommodation and tours if you or a close relative get sick with COVID-19 and you can no longer travel.
The cost of compulsory quarantine if you or your travel companion get COVID-19 or is deemed a ‘close contact’. And perhaps you would also like to be covered for Netflix and the occasional trip to the minibar!
The cost of childcare if you get COVID-19 on your trip and can’t take care of your
dependent children.
Care for your pets back home if you get COVID-19 during your trip and can’t return home as scheduled.
The list could go on, so be sure to do your research and see what options are available for the trip you’re taking and whether travel insurance is right for you.
