nib extends partnership with Hunter Sports Group

nib health funds (nib) has reaffirmed its commitment to the Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Jets by extending its major partnership with the Hunter’s sporting teams for an additional 12 months.

The private health insurer made sport sponsorship history in 2011 when it became the first sponsor to agree to a dual sponsorship agreement with the region’s two national sporting clubs operating under the Hunter Sports Group banner.

nib Chief Executive Officer, Mark Fitzgibbon said they were proud to maintain their support for the local sporting powerhouses.

“Our unique partnership with the Hunter Sports Group has driven outstanding brand value across both the NRL and A-League allowing us to achieve national exposure all year round,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.

“We believe both the Knights and Jets will continue to build on their strong on-field performance and we are looking forward to being a part of this journey,” he added.

Under the agreement, the local health insurer will maintain its coveted sleeve sponsorship with the nib logo appearing on the sleeve of the players’ jersey for both clubs.

The one-year extension will see nib retain its status as one of the longest continuous sponsor of the Newcastle Knights. nib first partnered with the Knights during the Club’s inception in 1988.

Knights CEO Matt Gidley and Jets CEO Robbie Middleby saw many positives out of the dual sponsorship arrangement.

"We are delighted nib have extended their sponsorship with the Hunter Sports Group," Gidley said.

"nib have been with the Knights from inception and we look forward to continuing our great partnership."

Middleby added, "nib are an iconic Newcastle company and it is fantastic they are supporting Newcastle's two major sporting teams."
