NDIS support list

The NDIS funds a range of approved supports, including, but not limited to:

Assistive technology

Assistance with travel and transport

Early intervention supports for early childhood

Supports that the NDIS cannot fund include, but are not limited to:

  • Food and groceries

  • Clothing or beauty services

  • Health-related services.

Reasonable and necessary supports

The NDIS can fund a support if it is considered reasonable and necessary to help a participant pursue their goals, improve their independence and engage in the community - as long as it is related to their disability.

Under this guidance, funded supports must:

  • Be for an impairment that meets the disability or early intervention NDIS requirements, or both

  • Help with your individual goals and aspirations

  • Support your social participation and/or economic opportunities

  • Be value for money, meaning:

    • Its cost is the same or cheaper than alternative options that might have the same effect for the participant

    • It is likely to reduce the costs of funding for other supports in the long-term

  • Be effective and beneficial

  • Help maintain your informal supports (friends, family and community supports).

More information about these criteria is available on the NDIS website.
