Haemodialysis in the Home
We’ve partnered with dialysis health care providers to give eligible members, where clinically appropriate, the option to receive Haemodialysis treatments at home.

About Haemodialysis in the Home
This service helps to:
Reduce time and money spent travelling, and waiting for, treatment at the hospital
Minimise the risk of any infections your patients may catch during their hospital visits
Improve support and connection with the clinical staff with one-on-one appointments
Give your patients more control over their treatment
Receive treatment in a comfortable, familiar and private environment
Cause less disruption to your patient's and their family's daily lives.
How it works
1. Find a provider
Find a Provider who offers Haemodialysis in the Home and register online with one of nib’s service providers.
2. Submit a referral
Submit a referral form through the dialysis service provider, who will then determine if they are eligible by checking your patient’s level of cover with nib, checking to see if the service is available in their area, and that their home is suitable for delivery of treatment at home.
3. Provider contacts your patient
Once your referral has been processed, the service provider will contact your nib patient about their availability and treatment plan. They will then book in time for machine installation prior to their first at-home appointment.
4. Confirm transition dates
The service provider will confirm transition dates with the treating hospital before commencing at home treatment.
5. Regular reports
The service provider will provide regular reports to you on how your patient’s treatment is going.
