Joining from another fund

Help - Your policy - Joining from another fund

If no more than 59 days pass between leaving your old fund and joining nib, and you have served the waiting periods with your old fund, you will be given ‘continuity of cover’. This means the relevant nib waiting periods won’t need to be served, and you’ll be covered from when you join. It’s important to know that any services you didn’t serve waiting periods for with your old fund will need to be served with nib.

You can start claiming immediately when you join if:

  • your nib health cover includes services that were available to you on your old cover, and
  • you served all the required waiting periods with your old fund, and
  • you didn’t use all your annual benefits with your old fund, and
  • you have completed the Clearance/Cancellation Certificate request

If you used part or all of your annual benefits with your old fund, nib will adjust your benefits accordingly.

Any accumulated benefits and loyalty bonuses from your old health fund are not transferable to your nib health cover.
