Mark Fitzgibbon – Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Mark joined nib in October 2002 as Chief Executive Officer. In 2007 as Managing Director, he led nib through its demutualisation and listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) progressing to the ASX100 in 2019.
Mark is a Director of nib holdings limited as well as many of its subsidiary companies, and is also a member of the Nomination Committee.
Mark is currently a Director of Private Healthcare Australia. He has previously served as CEO of both the national and NSW peak industry bodies for licensed clubs as well as holding several CEO positions in local government.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration (UTS) and Masters in Arts (MGSM) and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Nick Freeman – Group Chief Financial Officer
BCom (University of Melbourne), GradDipMgt (Monash University)
Nick joined nib in 2020 as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with responsibility for the Finance and Corporate Services Division across the nib Group.
A Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years' experience in accounting and finance, Nick prior to joining nib was Group CFO and Company Secretary at ASX-listed Mayne Pharma, while also previously holding CFO roles for both Australia and New Zealand with ANZ Banking Group.
Nick has worked as an executive in a number of industries such as healthcare, financial services, consumer, retail and aviation. He has extensive experience in financial and management accounting, mergers and acquisitions, integration management, tax, financial planning and analysis, risk management, treasury and investor relations.
Rob Hennin - Chief Executive Officer, nib New Zealand
B.A.(University of Otago), GAICD
Rob joined nib in May 2013 as Chief Executive Officer of the company’s New Zealand business. He is also a Director of nib nz limited.
Rob held senior management positions in Asia with Visa International and Unilever prior to his career with American Express as New Zealand Country Manager and Vice President for AMEX Australia, CEO AMEX India and General Manager World Markets – Insurance.
Rob also contributes his expertise to non-profit organisations, providing training in governance and leadership.
Brendan Mills - Group Chief Information Officer
Brendan joined nib in 2003 as Health IT Manager of Newcastle Private Hospital and has since held several IT management roles within the company.
In June 2012, he was appointed Group Chief Information Officer to drive technology alignment and innovation within the organisation. Brendan has responsibility for implementing nib’s technology strategy and delivery across the Group, covering multiple disciplines, including, cloud, core applications, digital, machine learning and emerging technology as well as cybersecurity and risk. Brendan has been pivotal in leading nib’s digital health and cloud transformation strategy.
Brendan has more than 20 years’ experience in technology related roles in the insurance, health and media industries and prior to joining nib held several positions at the Nine Network Australia and Hunter Imaging Group.
Roslyn Toms - Group Executive Legal and Chief Risk Officer

Ros joined nib in 2011 as General Counsel and in 2017 was promoted to the Group's Executive Management team. She is responsible for managing the Legal, Risk, Compliance, Governance, Community and Sustainability functions across the nib Group. Ros is also Company Secretary of nib holdings limited.
She also is a volunteer Director of nib foundation, nib's charitable organisation. Prior to joining nib, Ros was General Counsel & Company Secretary of a national building and construction company, and also worked in private practice for over 12 years for a number of leading Australian law firms.
Ros holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Journalism) (Honours)(University of Canberra/University of Technology), Bachelor of Laws (UNSW), as well as Graduate Diplomas in Legal Studies (College of Law) and Applied Corporate Governance (Governance Institute). She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Edward Close – Chief Executive Australian Residents Health Insurance
LLB (UoN), BBus (Management) (UoN), Diploma Legal Practice (College of Law, NSW)
Ed started with nib in 2017 as Head of Marketing and Products for our Australian Residents Health Insurance business and was appointed as Chief Executive - Australian Residents Health Insurance in January 2020.
He previously held senior management positions with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in various retail banking roles spanning Product Management, Strategy and Customer Engagement.
Ed has ten years’ experience working in the financial services and health insurance sector overseeing the end to end ownership of marketing and product assets, motivating and leading high performing teams and ensuring outstanding customer service and commercial outcomes.
Matt Paterson – Group Chief Operations Officer

Matt joined nib in 2020 as Group Executive Business Services with responsibility for operational contact centres and claims functions across the Group.
He previously worked in various senior management positions, including as General Manager for our whitelabel partner, TAL Australia, General Manager in customer care for Vodafone Australia, Program Director at Telstra and Head of Operations for IAG.
Matt has over 20 years’ experience spanning customer service, financial services, telecommunications and consulting and he was awarded the AFR Boss ‘Young Executive of the Year’ Australia (2009) and Customer Service Institute of Australia ‘Leader of the Year’ Australia (2007) for his expertise in these areas.
Martin Adlington - Group Chief People Officer
Martin joined nib in 2013 and has worked in senior leadership roles across nib’s Retail, Corporate Sales and Corporate Health businesses. He also led the successful integration of GU Health, our corporate health business, into the nib Group following its acquisition in 2017.
In 2020, Martin was promoted to Group Chief People Officer where he is responsible for driving and leading our people agenda, including our diversity and inclusion strategy.
He previously held several senior management positions at Telstra over a 17 year period in which he was responsible for leading hundreds of sales and service employees located across Australia. Martin is a proud advocate for Regional and Rural Australia and is an Alumni of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation.
Martin has over 30 years’ experience in business development, operational and change management roles across the health insurance, telecommunications and hospitality industries. He is highly skilled at motivating and leading larger and complex teams through significant change and has a strong track record in building leadership capability and delivering strategic operational outcomes.
James Barr - Chief Executive - International Visitors
James joined nib in 2005 and has held several senior management roles in marketing and products, including Group Marketing Manager across our Australian Residents Health Insurance division. His previous role saw him head the International Visitors business as General Manager, helping to improve the international member experience and operating efficiencies.
In 2020 he was promoted to Chief Executive – International Visitors and is responsible for growing the member base for nib’s international students and workers businesses including ensuring our products and services meet their needs.
James has more than 15 years’ senior management experience at nib, with a wealth of knowledge and understanding across brand, marketing, product design and pricing while managing high-performing teams to deliver outstanding business growth.
Prior to this, James held a regional management position at PMP Limited and has undertaken various education and training programs, including the Executive Development Programme with the International Federation of Health Plans.
