Our thoughts are with our PALM scheme members, employers and communities in southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales as they prepare for the impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. We hope for everyone’s safety and well-being during this time.  

PALM scheme employers can contact their Department of Employment and Workplace Relations relationship manager if they need to evacuate workers or call the PALM support line at 1800 515 131 (8:30 am to 6:30 pm AEDT, for critical incidents after hours).

Emergency Services urges those residents within the potentially affected areas to:  

Establish their emergency plans 

Put together their emergency kits 

Top up petrol in your car 

Stock at least a three-day supply of food, water, and other essentials.

The Community Recovery Hotline 1800 173 349 is available 24/7 to provide information and support.  

The dedicated Community Recovery Lifeline Hotline 1800 116 671 is available 8am to 8pm for specialist disaster counselling. 

Download the Emergency+ App at emergencyplus.com.au, opens in a new tab. This mobile phone app pinpoints the caller’s location with GPS coordinates to provide to Triple Zero (000) call-takers during an emergency.

Stay updated

Emergency alert messages are sent from +61 444 444 444 and are official text messages from the Queensland State Disaster Coordination Centre.

PALM support nurse

Have any worries or questions about your health? Our PALM support nurse service is here to help. Just give your nib policy number when you call, and you’ll be 100% covered. 

Our nurses are your first contact for health issues. They can: 

  • Assess your symptoms 

  • Provide immediate medical advice 

  • Book a GP appointment if needed.

We can also connect you with an interpreter or have a support person call the nurse on your behalf.

Telehealth is available from:
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm AEST
Closed: Saturday, Sunday and national public holidays.

Nurses cannot issue prescriptions, medical certificates or emergency help. For these services you can use our GP telehealth service, or please call 000 if your situation is an emergency.
