Questions to ask nib 

How do you know if you are covered for the procedure? Just call nib on 13 14 63 and ask:

  • Whether you’re on the right level of cover to have this procedure done? (be sure to have the MBS items for your procedure so nib can check your level of cover)

  • What happens if you have recently joined nib or changed your level of cover and your condition is pre-existing? Will you have to serve any waiting periods for this procedure?

  • Will you have to pay an excess if you need to go to hospital?

  • Has your specialist previously participated in nib’s MediGap scheme (Doctors can decide to charge patients using nib’s MediGap scheme on a case by case basis)?

  • Is the hospital where you wish to be treated one of nib’s Agreement Private Hospitals?

  • Are you up to date with your premium payments? You need to ensure that your payments are up to date in order for nib to pay you a benefit
