Who pays for what when it comes to your medical bills?
A simple guide on who's responsible for healthcare costs
Having Extras cover is a great way to stay healthy by accessing everyday services like visiting the dentist. Your health cover pays benefits toward the cost of dental treatment, each time you claim, until you reach your annual limits. How much you will get back varies depending on the level of health cover you’ve chosen.
To understand what you can claim back for dental services you can login to Online Services to check what’s included in your cover.
After a recent review of our agreement with DB Dental Centres in Western Australia, we have changed the way we pay for dental check-ups at these centres. Previously, customers could receive 100% back on the cost of certain preventative dental treatments* at DB Dental Centres.
From 17 October 2016, we will bring benefits in line with your health cover. When you visit one of these centres, you will now receive the benefit that’s listed on your particular health cover. There will be an out-of-pocket expense for the difference between your dental benefit and the amount DB Dental charges, just like you would experience at other dentists.
If you visit a DB Dental Centre between now and 16 October 2016 you will still receive 100% back on preventative dental treatment provided you have annual limits remaining.

*100% back applies only to dental items 011, 012, 013, 111, 114 and 121
