Changes to Orthodontia Benefits

From 1 January 2012, nib will be making a change to the way Orthodontia is paid on some nib products.

Some nib products have a benefit for Orthodontia that increases every year based on how long you have been with nib. This benefit increases by $100 per policy year up to a maximum amount you can claim on Orthodontia in a lifetime (The lifetime limit for each policy is different depending on your level of cover). The amount you can claim currently increases based on your anniversary date. The products impacted by this change include: Gold, Safeguard, Public Hospital Plus Extras, Quality Extras, Family Plus, Top Cover, Premier Plus and Premium Extras.

To simplify this process, on 1 January 2012 orthodontia benefits on some policies will change to calendar year. This means that at the beginning of each calendar year your annual benefit limits are renewed allowing you to claim benefits again. It also means that the amount you can claim on Orthodontia will increase by $100 as at 1 January each year (capped at the lifetime limit), instead of increasing on your anniversary date.

As a part of this change, when you submit a claim after 1 January 2012 you may receive a higher benefit than you were expecting.
