Check-ups and prevention for children  

Check-ups and preventative activities can help to keep your children healthy. They are usually available through your general practitioner. Listed below are some check-ups and general advice on how often they should be carried out. We've also listed some prevention initiatives you may like to learn more about - just follow the links.

Check-ups

Growth checks

Check height and weight at:

  • 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24 months
  • Then every 6-12 months until pre-school
  • Then every 1-2 years from school age until adolescence

Hearing/vision/speech checks

  • Check regularly for first 2 years of life
  • Then every 6-12 months until pre-school
