nib Point of Service Claiming
nib Point of Service Claiming is the easiest way to claim. Just give your nib card to your registered service provider after your treatment. They'll swipe it through the HICAPS or IBA terminal (like an EFTPOS machine) and it will automatically calcuate how much nib will pay for the service - all you do is pay the gap. If your service provider doesn't offer nib Point of Service Claiming, there's another easy way to claim.
nib Online Claiming
nib Online Claiming lets you claim on your Extras 24/7 and your benefits are usually paid into your bank account the next business day. To claim online, you need to register for nib Online Services. You'll also need to set up a SafeClaim account that lets us deposit benefits directly into your bank account. You can claim up to a combined limit of $300 at any one time for a wide range of Extras services Extras services you can claim for online include: general dental, optical, osteopathy, physiotherapy, remedial massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, psychology, podiatry, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech therapy, exercise physiology, naturopathy, bowen therapy, shiatsu, nutrition, homeopathy and myotherapy.

Over the phone
Call us on 13 14 63 to make a claim over the phone for selected Extras. To make a phone claim you will need to have your nib card and provider receipt handy. We can set up a Safeclaim account for you when you call.
Visit an nib Retail Centre
Our friendly customer care consultants will talk to you about the most convenient ways for you to claim.
To send us your claim by mail, complete an nib Claim Form, attach all of your original receipts and send to the reply paid address that’s written on the form.
When you claim with an nib Claim Form, be sure to:
- Sign your Claim Form
- Attach the original prescription if you are claiming for Optical services
Attach receipts and accounts that are:
- Original documents (not copies)
- Written in English (helps us process them faster)
- On the provider’s official stationery or have the provider’s official stamp
- Fully itemised, showing all the services listed individually
If you haven’t paid the account, we will give you a cheque made out to your provider. Whatever remains unpaid from the account (i.e. what we didn’t pay) is what you need to pay to your provider.
