nib Lorne Pier to Pub
Since 2005, nib has been the major sponsor of the world’s largest open water swim, the nib Lorne Pier to Pub. The annual 1.2km swim attracts more than 4,000 participants and up to 40,000 spectators to Victoria’s holiday coast. The weekend-long sporting festival held during January also incorporates the nib Lorne Mountain to Surf run.
nib’s support of this major event on Victoria's sporting and tourism calendar demonstrates how the health fund is encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. Money raised from the event helps support the activities of the Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club.
In 2010 the nib Pier to Pub Open Male race was won by Sam Sheppard in a time of 11 minutes and 42 seconds. The Open Female winner was Harriet Brown who took out back to back titles in 11 minutes and 52 seconds.
